Education boards get BMC nod to carry exams


The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has allowed State, nationwide and worldwide instructional boards to carry exams bodily in Mumbai by following COVID-19 tips.

Last month, citing worry of a second wave, the BMC deferred the reopening of colleges and faculties until January 15. However, it has now determined to allow the boards to conduct examinations. Not doing so may consequence within the lack of a 12 months for college students, the BMC mentioned in its order issued on Tuesday evening.

The boards have been allowed to conduct exams from January 18, a BMC official mentioned on Wednesday. The order acknowledged that members of International Schools Association (Cambridge board) can conduct preliminary or pre-planned examinations of Classes IXto XII. Other boards like SSC, HSC (Maharashtra board), CBSE, IB, CISCE and IGCSE can conduct exams of Classes X and XII as per their deliberate agenda, the BMC mentioned.

“They should follow all the precautionary, health, cleanliness and security guidelines for the COVID-19 pandemic,” the order mentioned.

According to the BMC, within the Mumbai municipal limits, some topics of the Cambridge board faculties for Classes IX to XII are of February-March session and their examinations are beginning on January 23.

The BMC final month allowed city-based faculties of the U.S. and different consulates to reopen from January 18, however has not specified when precisely the opposite instructional establishments can reopen.
